How to Use Books in Print

Books in Print (BIP) provides information about current books that are in print, forthcoming books that are scheduled for release, and the availability of audiocassettes and videos. Browse by General Subject (juvenile, history, computers, self-help, sports), or by Index (author, title, publisher, performer, video). Check BIP for the latest Best Sellers and browse the homepages of publishers and authors. Get book reviews as well.

1. Begin by accessing the main database page from the Library homepage and select the "Articles & Databases" link:

2. Choose Books in Print from the alphabetical list of databases:

3. To obtain information on a specific book, use the drop down menu to search by keyword (the default option), author, keyword in title, ISBN, or exact title:

4. For example, to search for Dan Brown's book "The Da Vinci Code", use an exact title search as seen below:

5. On the next page, select from the list the title that looks like the best fit (such as the third one). Use the links to view all results if you are unsure:

6. All relevant publication information will appear at the top of the next screen:

7. Scroll down the page to see more information, such as the synopsis:

8. Continue scrolling down to see a review:

9. Back on the opening page for BIP, use the Readers' Advisory to locate either fiction or non-fiction by a variety of categories such as topic, genre, setting, character, location, or timeframe:
