Whether it is the quality of academic programming, the beauty of our campus and setting, or the unparalleled value we afford students and families, Flagler College has been recognized as among the best in the nation.
Mike Sokol begins his first season as the pitching coach for Flagler College.
Sokol comes to the Flagler softball program with a wealth of experience. He spent nine seasons at Daytona State College (2003-11) as its pitching coach and spent one season as an interim head coach. The Lady Falcons made nine consecutive appearances at the state tournament and they won the Mid-Florida Conference title once. In his one year serving as an interim head coach, Sokol led the team to a 38-10 record.
In his time at Daytona State, he helped six players earn NCAA Division I scholarships and four more earn Division II scholarships. Kelsey Nurnberg (Mississippi State University), Katie Murphy (University of Georgia) and Elly Goosby (University of South Carolina) all earned DI scholarships. Sokol also helped two-time All-Gulf South Conference pitcher, Taren Walton, earn a scholarship to DII-power University of West Florida.
Sokol served as the head coach at Flagler Palm Coast High School (1993-2003 and 2012-13) for 12 years. He led the Lady Bulldogs to a 243-19 record as well as four regional finals appearances, four district titles and four undefeated regular seasons. Sokol was named 5-Star Conference Coach of the Year honors eight times and led the team to conference titles in each of those seasons.
