Gerson Penza joins the Flagler women's soccer coaching staff as an assistant in 2013.

The native of Curacao played two seasons for the Saints (2005-06). He played in 34 matches and scored four goals with three assists for a total of 11 points. Penza transferred to Flagler from St. Gregory’s University in Shawnee, Okla.

Penza is active in the Greater St. Augustine area serving as the technical director and head girls U-11 and U-15 coach for the Ponte Vedra Soccer Club. He has also served as the head junior varsity coach and assistant varsity boys’ soccer coach at Bartram Trail High School in St. Johns, Fla. Penza is the technical director for Premier Soccer Development, a company focused on the growth of youth soccer in northeast Florida.

Penza graduated from Flagler with a bachelor’s degree in sport management in December of 2007. He earned his master’s in August of 2012 from the University of Phoenix.

Penza is married to the former Kathy Call ’07.
