Every year Flagler College hosts a gala in the ballroom on New Year’s Eve. I had the pleasure of helping plan this year. What an incredible learning experience. This year’s theme was The Roaring ‘20’s – one of my favorites!
The up-lighting on the ceiling completely transformed the ballroom. I especially loved the art deco detail.
The rotunda had a social hour prior to dinner. There was a seafood buffet and ice sculpture. Outside in the courtyard were a martini bar and a cigar bar.
Dinner was delicious. Guests had a choice of sea bass, vegetarian ravioli, chicken or veal. The food was catered by Flagler College Catering. I had the sea bass and it was delectable. There was also a HUGE dessert bar – yes, please!
The flowers fit the 1920’s theme perfectly. They were designed by Flower Works. I have to say, they were my favorite of the many details. I especially loved the ostrich feathers.
After dinner came the dancing. The band was great – entertaining and talented. Everyone seemed to have a great time. As the night went on the band announced that there was a surprise: a couple was getting engaged! Sean surprised his new fiancée, Stefanie, by getting down on one knee just before midnight. How romantic!
What a spectacular evening. It was definitely one for the books. For information on renting the ballroom for your own special event please visit www.flagler.edu/weddings or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
