The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum is pleased to present our bi-annual exhibition of works by Flagler College’s graduating B.F.A. and B.A. candidates from the Department of Art and Design. The exhibition will open with a reception on Thursday, May 1 from 5 until 9pm. It will be on view on Friday, May 2 from 10am until 4pm, and during Art Walk from 5 to 9pm, and on Saturday, May 3 from 11am until 2pm.
The B.F.A. exhibition will include painting, sculpture, video, and mixed media works by Gabriela Ferguson, Maja Hydbom, Alexander McNutt, Andrea Parent, Kelsey Schirard, Grace Shipman, Douglas Stearns, and Pernilla Stellgren. The B.A. candidates will present paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography, installation, sound and mixed media works by Max Bachman-Whitney, Holley Bailey, Alexandra Dominguez, Mahaly Grant, Emily Lowell, Kevin Mahoney, Tanis Montgomery, Aly Schaper, Michael Stingle, Thomas Tarricone, and Lindsay Wheat. A special screening of Kevin Mahoney’s Karst
Window will take place on Wednesday, April 30 at 7pm in the Gamache-Koger Theater at Ringhaver Student Center. Additionally, the film will be screened at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm on Thursday, May 1.
Concurrently, Assistant Professor Chris Balaschak's Curatorial Practice class has organized a library to complement the B.A. portfolio exhibition. Focused on the history of curating contemporary art, the Curatorial Practice class was interested in providing a space for interpretation and reflection on the artwork produced by Flagler's B.A. students. The library will include interviews with the B.A. students, curatorial statements, and a selection of materials such as books, videos, and music that are meant to enhance the public reception of the BA students' artwork.
