  • Areas of primary research include the religion and politics of Mohandas Gandhi, Reinhold Nieburhr, Martin Luther King Jr. and Abdul Ghaffar Khan
  • Published Gandhi and Bin Laden: Religion at the Extremes (University Press of America, September, 2009)
  • Published in journals including Theology Today and the Journal of Conflict Studies
  • Active participant in the American Academy of Religion
Professional Profile:

Professor Rowell holds a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the University of Pittsburgh, an M.S. in Political Science from the University of New Hampshire Massachusetts, and two Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Massachusetts: one in Political Science and one in Anthropology. Dr. Rowell's interest span religion and politics, and teaches such courses as: Gandhi and Bin Laden, God Ape & Man, Smith Marx and God, Islam and Politics, Hinduism and India, and Star Wars Tolkien and Religion.
