The Sixties on Screen: Movies in the Age of Cultural Transformation
In this series of screenings and discussion, two leading historians of the Hollywood cinema revisit the signature films of an era of upheaval and change, as much for the film industry as for American society at large. The screenings feature films that were met with controversy and acclaim because they spoke to current social issues. questions of gender identity, sexual violence, and psychopathology (PSYCHO); drug use, the frustration of the American dream, murderous cultural conflict (EASY RIDER); and alienation, political protest, and the generation gap (ZABRISKIE POINT).
