outstanding
athletic
success
stories
at Flagler
include
our tennis
team,
with
seven
national
team
championships
to its
credit,
and our
baseball
team,
which
has sent
eight
players
to professional
teams
in recent
years.
In 2004,
Flagler
inaugurated
its first
Hall
of Fame
athletes.
Men's
tennis
won
NAIA
national
championships
in
1977
and
1986
and
has
captured
10
district
titles.
Women's
tennis
won
five
consecutive
NAIA
national
championships
in
1987,
'88,
'89,
'90
and
'91
and
has
captured
seven
district
titles.
In
1998,
tennis
player
Simona
Galik
won
the
NAIA
Women's
National
Singles
title
after
a 31-0
season.
In
1999,
Ricardo
Mena
claimed
the
NAIA
Men's
National
Singles
title,
and
women's
basketball
won
the
Sun
Conference
championship.
In
2000
and
2001,
the
women's
basketball
team
again
claimed
the
Florida
Sun
Conference
championship.
In
2002,
the
men's
soccer
program
appeared
in
the
National
Tournament
for
the
first
time
ever.
They
finished
as
the
13th
seed
in
the
tournament
after
being
defeated
in
the
first
round.
Both
the
women's
soccer
and
volleyball
programs
finished
their
seasons
runner-up
in
the
Region
XIV
Conference.
In
2003,
the
men's
golf
program
received
a 6th
place
pre-season
national
ranking.
The
Flagler
College
Athletic
Program
was
recognized
in
USA
Today
on
January
2,
2003,
as
a top
10
sports
program
based
on
a point
system
established
by
the
National
Association
of
Collegiate
Directors
of
Athletics.
In
2003,
the
men's
basketball
team
won
its
first-ever
Florida
Sun
Conference
championship,
sending
the
Saints
to
the
NAIA
Division
II
National
Tournament
also
for
the
first
time
ever.
Unseeded,
they
were
defeated
in
the
first
round.
During
the
second
round
of
the
FSC
tournament,
coach
Bo
Clark
was
recognized
for
his
300th
win
at
Flagler.
Also
in
2003,
for
the
second
straight
year
in
a row,
Flagler
College
has
been
recognized
as
an
NAIA
Champions
of
Character
Institution.
This
award
certifies
that
Flagler
College
has
upheld
the
five
core
values
of
Respect,
Servant
Leadership,
Responsibility,
Sportsmanship
and
Integrity.
Also,
beginning
this
year,
the
NAIA
recognizes
March
4 as
National
Sportsmanship
Day
and
has
asked
each
institution
to
name
one
team
to
represent
the
college.
This
year’s
team
sport
is
the
men’s
soccer
team
who
qualified
for
the
National
Tournament
for
the
first
time
in
the
program's
