2004-2005 Men's Basketball Game Reports

Game #21 Report

Flagler College 82 - Embry-Riddle 77

On Jan. 26, 2005, the Saints played away against their archrival Embry-Riddle and won 82-77.

During the game senior forward Robby Rayes tore his ACL and was lost for the season. “Losing Robby is a blow to the team. Robby is a tremendous leader on the team and one of the most active players we half,” Coach Bo Clark said.

It was loud and energetic in the gym because of the 1,653 fans who attended this game.  The first half was really close when the Saints only led the game 32-31 at half-time.

Carlton Summers led the Saints' scoring with 26 points. Darrell Freeman had 19 points, and Chris Crumpler finished with 15 points. Rafael Peixoto had 11 rebounds in the game.

“It was a great road win for us, the team played great defense after half time and the seniors really stepped up. It is always tough to beat Embry-Riddle at their place,” Clark said.

The Saints are ranked 12th nationally with a 15-5 overall record and 3-1 in conference.

Game #22 Report

Flagler College 66 - Florida Memorial University 68

The Flagler College Saints faced another tough foe when they played against Florida Memorial on Jan 29, 2005.  The Saints fell short, losing 68-66 mainly because of poor shooting. The Saints made 7 of 30 from the 3-point range. Carlton Summers had 20 points, and Bryan Borstelmann had 17.

Flagler dropped 15-6 overall and 3-2 in the Conference.

Game #23 Report

Flagler College 81 - SCAD 55

The Saints traveled to Savannah, Ga., to face the Bees of Savannah School of Art and Design to avenge a 68-67 loss at home earlier this season. Flagler came back with an outstanding 81-55-road win at the Savannah Civic Center on Feb 2, 2005.

“It was the best defense we have played all year,” said Coach Bo Clark. “We did a great job defending their two scorers Gerard Bowden and Shawn Watson. It was a great road win and a great way to bounce back after the Florida Memorial loss.”

Carlton Summers led the Saints scoring with 21 points and 1 rebound followed by Chris Crumpler with 16 points.

The Saints improved to a 16-6 overall and 4-2 conference record.

Game #24 Report

Flagler College 79 - Warner Southern 71

On Feb. 5, the Saints traveled to Lake Wales to face Warner Southern University and beat the Royals 79-71. The team improved to 17-6 overall record and 5-2 in conference play.

The Saints had another great game defending Warner’s two main scorers, Clint Zwyer and Vince McGill. “Defense won the game for us in the second half,” Coach Bo Clark said.

Carlton Summers led the team with 21 points followed by Chris Crumpler and Bryan Borstelmann with 19 and 14 points, respectively.

Game #25 Report

Flagler College 75 - Embry-Riddle 70

The 13th ranked Saints played 7th-ranked archrival Embry-Riddle on Feb. 9 at home and came up with a 75-70 win in overtime.

“I thought our seniors really stepped up during crunch time. That was what we needed because Embry-Riddle is such a good team,” Coach Bo Clark said.

It was a huge game for the Saints who had been down throughout the contest. The student body and crowd made a real difference with close to 1,800 fans in attendance.

Carlton Summers led the team with 27 points followed by Darrell Freeman with 23 points

The Saints improved to an 18-6 overall and 6-2 conference record.

Game #26 Report

Flagler College 85 - Webber International 49

The Saints once again beat Webber International University in a conference game Feb. 12. This time the Saints played at home, beating the Warriors 85-49.

“Chris Crumpler got us out of the gate with his 3-point shooting, and Jamie Jenkins did a good job on the board with 12 rebounds. Our bench really played well and gave us an extra boost,” Coach Bo Clark said.

Flagler led 48-29 at half. The Saints once again had an outstanding defensive game, keeping the warriors to a 36.5 field-goal percentage.

Carlton Summers had 17 points and Crumpler 16 points.
