Flagler College Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner Celebrating Dr. William T. Abare, Jr.
Flagler College will pay tribute to Dr. William T. Abare, Jr.’s contributions to intercollegiate athletics at Flagler College, culminating in his induction into the Athletics Hall of Fame. Inductees have made a significant contribution to the intercollegiate sports program. In addition to inducting Dr. Abare into the Hall of Fame, the evening will celebrate the 10th anniversary of joining the NCAA Division II. The evening begins with a reception at 6:00 followed by dinner at 6:30. Dinner sponsored in part by Carrabba’s Italian Grill.
Deadline for reservations is April 27.
Nineteenth Annual Alumni Awards Luncheon
All alumni are invited to the Solarium to celebrate and congratulate this year’s Alumni Award recipients. If you would like to nominate an individual for an Alumni Award fill out the Alumni Award Nomination Form before March 1st.
Reservations must be received by April 27.
This year’s awards luncheon will also pay special tribute to the fourth graduating class of Flagler, the Class of 1977, as they celebrate their 40th Reunion, the Charter Classes of 1972, 1973, 1974, and 1975, and the 35 year reunion class of 1982, 30 year reunion class of 1987, 25 year reunion class of 1992, 20 year reunion class of 1997, 15 year reunion class of 2002, 10 year reunion class of 2007, and 5 year reunion class of 2012.
Alumni Art Opening
Visit the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum to view a juried art show of working alumni artists. Alumni are invited to view the submission guidelines and submit work for consideration by visiting www.flagler.edu/alumniart.
Submissions are due by February 20, 2017.

The 32nd Annual Hugh Shaw Memorial Long Board Contest
The Flagler surf family has gathered for 31 years to celebrate the life of alumnus, Hugh Shaw, who died in 1983. This event is truly a daylong “expression session.” The competition is friendly and open to all alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends of all ages. Lunch will be provided at 12:30pm to participants and their families for $8 a person.
Alumni will meet at the St. Johns County Golf Course for a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start. Come early and hit some complimentary practice balls. A box lunch is included in your fee. Having trouble completing your foursome? Email Viv Helwig and he will help you finalize your team.
Golfers must register before April 24.
Family Campus BBQ and Pool Party
Bring the whole family back to campus to enjoy a traditional barbeque on the West Lawn, including lawn games, music, and a dip in the Flagler pool. Bring your sunglasses and towel, we’ll provide the rest! (We promise, there will also be shade.)
Young Lion Event
The Young Lions Giving Society will enjoy a private tour of the Whetstone Chocolates factory. An after-tour cocktail will round out this festive gathering. By special invitation only. For more information about becoming a Young Lion, contact Jessie Brabender.

Meet and Greet Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Joyner
Welcome Dr. Joseph Joyner, the incoming President of Flagler College, and his wife, Mrs. Susan Joyner, to the Flagler Family. Guests will enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres in the Solarium and take in the beautiful dusk views of St. Augustine as the sun descends in the west.
Tours of Flagler College
Your memories of living in Ponce de Leon Hall are part of Flagler’s living history! Visit your old room on Sunday morning before leaving town. Tours will leave every half an hour starting at 8:30 a.m.
The Legacy Tour of Ponce de Leon Hall will meet in the Rotunda at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, and will focus on the architecture and history of the Hotel Ponce de Leon.
Breakfast with Dr. Abare and State of the College Address
The final event of the weekend, our traditional Breakfast with the President will be Dr. Abare’s final alumni gathering as President. Join us to hear his State of the College Address, and take the opportunity to thank him for his 46 years of service to Flagler College. The State of the College Address will be at 9:30 a.m. following a special presentation by the Alumni Association.
