Requirements

Entrance Examinations
All applicants are required to submit test scores from either the SAT I or the ACT. These entrance examinations should be taken late in the junior and/or early in the senior year. In addition to using the results to evaluate applicants for admission, the scores are used in course selection and placement.

Advanced Placement - Students who have participated in the Advanced Placement Program may be eligible for transfer credit or advanced placement at Flagler College. The College reviews and evaluates AP courses on an individual basis in the context of a student's proposed area of study. The amount of credit and placement are subject to approval by the appropriate academic department. Course credit is generally granted for each AP examination passed with a score of 4 or 5 in courses comparable to Flagler courses and appropriate to the degree program.

For students earning a 4 or 5 on the "Language and Composition" AP examination, Flagler College will award credit for 101 upon consultation with the Department Chair for English; after that consultation, students will be enrolled in ENG 191 (and must still take the second part of a composition series), ENG 102 or ENG 192 (in the spring semester of the first year). For students earning a 4 or 5 on the "Language and Literature" AP examination, Flagler College will award 3 credits of HUM 199 toward their General Education humanities requirements. Students must submit official score reports of the AP exminations. The Registrar's Office will review the exam results, as well as the grades received for the AP courses, and will consult with the academic departmends involved. Credit is awarded at the discretion of the College, and students should not assume that credit will be awarded automatically. Students should consult with the Admissions Office to determine level of placement of the amount of credit to be granted for AP.

College Level Examination Program - Applicants who score at least 500 on the CLEP general exam may receive six semester hours of college credit for each of the following areas: English Composition with Essay, Humanities, Social Science and History, College Mathematics, Natural Science.

Education Major - Applicants who plan to major in any area of education are required to:

  • score 1010 or higher on a single administration of the SAT or 21 or higher on the ACT composite

  • Apply to the Education Department for specific admission to the program.

Immunization Documentation - All students born after 1956 are required to present documented proof of two measles immunizations. All students, regardless of age, shall present proof of two rubella immunizations.

International Baccalaureate - Students wanting information about the IB transfer of credits should consult the current Flagler College Catalog.

International Students - Applicants are advised to begin the process well in advance of the start of any semester the student plans to enter. Students from other countries must submit transcripts of all secondary and university work attempted and all Learning Certificates or Certificates of Completion. The College must have English translations certified by the United States Consulate or the Educational Ministry in the applicant's native country.
