Flagler College Study Abroad Program

Cultivating a Global Education and Perspective

The Flagler College Study Abroad Office (SAO) oversees and coordinates all off-campus international and domestic credit-bearing programs for students. We are committed to developing engaged, informed, and culturally intelligent students through a diverse offering of programs that emphasize immersion, reflection, critical thinking, and experiential learning on a global scale.

SAO provides individualized, student-centered support throughout the entire study abroad process. We aim to create an environment where students can engage themselves with other cultures and are committed to providing an international education that is hands-on, inspiring students to immerse themselves in their global studies and to develop a wider perspective.

Through continuous assessment and improvement of programs and services, and through our ongoing collaboration with academic departments and offices around the world, we dedicate ourselves to facilitating a study abroad experience that is unique, comprehensive, and most importantly, safe for our students.

Our Programs

Faculty-led study abroad programs, offered through Flagler College, are a wonderful opportunity for students to gain meaningful international experience. Flagler faculty programs typically range from one to four weeks in duration, often taking place in the summer, and offer credit for one or two courses.

Recent summer programs have included a 4-week Spanish language course in Peru, a field course in Bermuda available to students in the Environmental Science program, and a history course in Normandy, France, built around the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion.

Future programs set for Summer 2015 will include study abroad opportunities in Italy, Germany, Cuba, Bermuda, and Spain. Our hope is that more students will take advantage of these offerings so that we can build upon our relationships with departments around the world, and continue to provide a diverse selection of programs that enhance a student’s global awareness and education.

This Psychology major is enjoying her first study abroad experience in Galway, Ireland so much, she's asked to stay longer. " .. As much as I do miss Flagler, I am so involved here and feel that I still have so much to see and learn."
