Study Abroad 2018: Yucatan
The 2018 Beyond Cancun Study Tour to Yucatan, Mexico, taking place from March 24-31, 2018, will offer students a unique opportunity to study the Hispanic and Maya culture and religion in the heart of the Yucatan, home to the Maya civilization and some of the first missions founded by the Franciscans in continental America. Students will study and experience first-hand Mayan and Hispanic cities while they explore the sacred sites and religious practices of the Yucatan.
In fulfilling the objectives of the program students will travel to Yucatan, and will be exposed to its some of most important cultural treasures, monuments, and cultural centers including the UNESCO World Heritage site of Chichén Itzá.
The program will consist of two courses taught on the Flagler campus during the spring semester and travel to Yucatan during Spring Break 2018. Prof. Timothy Johnson will offer HIS/REL 340A: History of Sacred Yucatan and Prof. Aggie Johnson will offer the SPA 340A Maya & Hispanic Cities course.

Students who wish to participate in this program must enroll in either SPA 340 Maya and Hispanic Cities or HIS/REL 340 History of Sacred Yucatan in the Spring Semester 2018
Maximum Number of Students
A maximum of 8 students will be accepted into each class with a maximum total of 16 students for the entire program.
Program Fee: $1,970
- Includes: Hotel accommodations (double/triple), faculty fee, all meals, airfare MCO-CUN, transportation in-country, entrance fees, guides/tips, guest speaker, and on-site support staff.
- Not Included: Personal spending ~$150, Passport cost ($160)
Non refundable deposit of 600.00 due by October 16, 2017
Airfare of 500.00 on November 14, 2017
Remaining amount of 870.00 by January 19, 2018
