Text and Outline: None

Course Objectives:
The objective of the pre-law internship is to provide the student with a real-life opportunity for a cooperative educational experience by working with a private attorney, prosecutor, public defender, county administrator, county judge, or another selected public or private law agency. It is expected that the student will obtain information from this experience which will allow him or her to choose which areas of law the student may wish to pursue.

Course Requirements:
The student is required to work 40 hours in a law office or legal setting for each hour of credit received. Thus, the student must work a minimum of 120 hours to receive three hours of credit. The student must also submit a two-page report to the instructor detailing his or her internship experience. The student must also ask the internship sponsor to submit an evaluation of the student's performance to the instructor.

Grading:
This course is graded on a pass/fail basis. If the student completes the minimum number of hours required and submits the written report to the instructor, the student will receive a passing grade. If the student does not complete the required hours or submit the written report, the student will fail.

Attendance:
The student is expected to work for the sponsor on a weekly basis until the student has worked the required number of hours.

Cheating:
Cheating will not be excused or tolerated. Anyone caught cheating will fail the course.

Methods of Instruction:
The student will learn through the supervision of on-the-job training.

Statement on Disabilities:
Special services and reasonable accommodations are available to those who are registered with the Office of Services for Students with Disabilities and who request assistance before the beginning of a given academic semester (Cf. Flagler College Catalog).

Learning Outcomes:
The student will be able to perform certain tasks which will be required by the internship sponsor. These tasks may include, but are not limited to, researching legal issues, dealing with the public, filing, running office errands, and learning court decorum.
