Business Administration

The Business Administration program sets the stage for students to obtain leadership and management roles in the corporate world. The program encompasses a variety of courses in economics, business law, accounting, marketing, and management. The seasoned faculty provides real-world industry experience and professional networking opportunities. Students completing this program will earn a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Business Administration. Day students may complete the program in four semesters, and evening students may require five semesters for program completion.

Prerequisites:

AA Degree or 60 transferable credits which include:

6 Credit hours English
6 Credit hours Mathematics (College Algebra and Statistics)
6 Credit hours Social Science
6 Credit hours Humanities
3 Credit hours Natural Science
3 Credit hours Speech Communication (satisfied with AA degree)
3 Credit hours Computer Literacy
 

Accounting

The Flagler Accounting program prepares students for a variety of successful careers, professional growth, and for admission to prestigious graduate programs and/or preparation to sit for the Florida CPA exam. The courses are carefully selected to ensure a strong foundation in accounting, business administration, marketing, financial management, money and banking, economics, and computing. Accounting classes are only offered in the evening and can be completed in five semesters.

6 Credit hours Humanities
3 Credit hours Natural Science

Education

Flagler College - Tallahassee offers the following programs in Education

  • Elementary Education
  • Elementary Education/Exceptional Student Education

The Elementary Education program provides the foundation for classroom management and organization techniques that will prepare students for a rewarding career in education.  Flagler’s hands on approach starts the first semester with practicum placement in the schools where they can apply the concepts they have learned in the classroom. The coursework and training culminates with a full time internship. The Flagler programs include a Reading and ESOL endorsement and graduates are eligible for certification in the state of Florida.

*** The Florida Department of Education requires that all Education majors who began as college freshmen during or after Fall 2001 meet additional general education requirements. 9 Credit hours Mathematics including:

  • Liberal Arts I

Plus two from the four below:

  • Liberal Arts 2
  • College Algebra
  • Statistics
  • Business Calculus

9 hours Natural Science including:

  • Life Science
  • Earth Science
  • Physical Science

6 hours Social Science including:

  • American History
  • Social Science Elective

6 Credit hours Humanities (satisfied  with Humanities 1 and 2)

3 Credit hours Speech Communication (satisfied with AA degree)

3 Credit hours Child Development

3 Credit hours Introduction to Education

Day Program - Elementary Education majors will be required to complete ESL 315, Cross Cultural Communications, during their first summer of enrollment at Flagler College-Tallahassee

Strategic Communication

The Strategic Communication (Public Relations) major is an integrated degree program that prepares students for careers in business, communications, government and non-profit organizations. The successful candidate achieves broad knowledge of, and skill sets in, writing, oral communication, public relations, marketing and sales. The program includes a marketing minor which will prepare the graduate for entry level positions in sales and marketing. The internship program will deepen the candidate’s experience in one or more core areas. Students completing this program will earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Strategic Communication. Day students may complete the program in four semesters, and evening students will require five semesters for program completion.
