Certification

Students
majoring
in education
choose from
7 programs
of study,
two of which
result in
eligibility to receive dual certification
(one in Elementary
Education
and one
in Education
of the Deaf
and Hard
of Hearing).
All programs
are state-approved
education
degree programs,
and the Deaf
Education
program is
accredited
by the National
Council for
the Education
of the Deaf.
In addition,
each program
allows for
an ESOL endorsement.
Students
may combine
a major in
education
of the deaf
and hard
of hearing
with elementary
education.
Students
may also
combine a
major in
elementary
education
with exceptional
student education.
Students
should ask
their advisors
to explain
those majors
that are
single certification
and those
that are
dual certification.
A
checklist
of required
courses
for each
major is
available
in the Education
Department
office or
in the catalog
(a direct
link to
our catalog
online is in the menu at the left of this page).
A copy of
the checklist
may also
be obtained
from the
student's
academic
advisor.
Each student
is required
to obtain
a copy of
the checklist
for his/her
major, become
familiar
with the
course requirements,
and use
the checklist
for schedule
planning
and course
registration.
Total hours
for each
major are
included
in the checklist.
