Program Majors & Minors

With a curriculum that combines a strong theoretical foundation with extensive experience-based learning opportunities, Flagler's theatre arts students gain skill in performance, stage technology, scene design, writing, and directing, as well as a thorough grounding in the history and literature of theatre.

The Theatre Arts department is seeking students wanting to build a creative, fulfilling career in fields ranging from acting, directing, and theatre production to academia, advertising, television, and film.

In addition to course work, Flagler theatre students also discover many opportunities to participate in departmental, community, and professional performances held in the newly renovated 800-seat Lewis Auditorium. Graduates go on to pursue successful careers in acting, directing, designing, and/or technical theatre.

With 2-3 main stage productions a year, and 10-20 student directed plays, the Theatre Arts student has many opportunities to be actively involved in theatre production. These performances are presented in several venues, including the newly renovated 800-seat, Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College, the 100-seat Gamache-Koger theatre in Ringhaver Student Center, and 48-seat Rahner-Gibbs Second Stage in Lewis Auditorium.

Throughout the year, students are found acting, directing, designing, and working in the scene and costume shops on departmental projects. Opportunities for professional experience are also available through working with the technical director on events and outside organizations utilizing the facility.
