Contact Theatre Arts

Flagler College's Theatre Arts Department believes in educating students in all areas of theatre, including performance, technology, design, literature, history, management and directing.  This allows the individual artist to broaden in their abilities, becoming more marketable, while at the same time giving them the opportunity to develop and gain experience in a specific area of interest, if they so desire.

Clubs and Organizations

Honor Society

Alpha Psi Omega

The Theatre Arts Department petitioned the National Theatre Arts Honor Society, Alpha Psi Omega, to approve a chapter at Flagler College. Inductions take place after pledges have proven their contributions to the national chapter. The Chair of Theatre Arts, Phyllis M. Gibbs, is the sponsor. This is a service organization as well as an honor society, and members must not only contribute to their department but to their college and community as well.

Internship Opportunities

Productions & Performances

Agnes

The Theatre Arts major has many opportunities to become involved in production and performance. The Theatre Arts  Department gives students a variety of “hands on” experience.

The Theatre Arts Department produces two to three main stage productions a year, presented in the Flagler College Auditorium, along with a studio production, presented in the Rahner-Gibbs Second Stage Studio Theatre.  These productions are directed by faculty or guest directors. Set, lights and costumes for these productions are often student designed under the guidance of a faculty supervisor. There are also opportunities for students to participate in assistant directing, stage management and choreography.

In addition to the main stage performances, there are fully produced productions of one-acts directed by seniors, presented in the Flagler College Auditorium, as part of the Conservatory program. Juniors direct shorter one-acts, which are presented in the Rahner-Gibbs Second Stage Studio.  And, some classes have performances incorporated into their schedules, such as Acting One and Dance.

Auditions are open to all Flagler College students; however, preference is given to Theatre Arts majors in terms of casting.  Freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors have the opportunity to be cast in productions.
