Flagler College Youth Ministry Forum

              This January, join the Flagler College Youth Ministry Department for a weekend of equipping and training Youth Ministry teams and volunteers.

Flagler College Youth Ministry Forum. January 26 through 27, 2018. Ringhaver sutdent center. Friday 6 to 8pm. Saturday 8pm to 4:30pm.

Registration

Registration for the Youth Ministry Forum will be available beginning in September. Please return to register as an individual or group. Registration fees are as follows:

  • $30 per individual
  • $300 group rate for attendees from the same organization.

Andy Root

Andrew Root (Ph.D., Princeton Theological Seminary) is the Carrie Olson Baalson associate professor of youth and family ministry at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. A former Young Life staff worker, he has served in churches and social service agencies as a youth outreach associate and a gang prevention counselor.

Dr.  Andrew  Root is the Carrie Olson Baalson Associate Professor of Youth and Family Ministry at Luther Seminary, USA. He writes and researches in areas of theology and youth ministry. His most recent books are Christopraxis (Fortress Press, 2014) and Bonhoeffer as Youth Worker (Baker, 2014).

    Hayne Steen

    Hayne Steen

    Hayne Steen is the  Director  of Counseling and Care at The SoulCare Project as well as a Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice with Elbow Tree Christian Counseling. Hayne grew up on surfing on the northeast Florida coast where met his wife Ruth Ann while attending Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL where they were both students and Young Life leaders together. Since then they both have been serving in full time ministry with Young Life and the local church all over the state of Florida, in Atlanta and most recently serving on the ministry staff of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church and the Chattanooga Youth Network. Hayne and his wife continue to live on Signal Mountain with their three children where they enjoy living, playing and worshipping in  an  amazing community of family and friends.

    Rachael McNeal

    Rachael McNeal

    Rachael McNeal currently lives in St. Augustine, while working as the Director of Youth Ministries at Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. She also has experience in Higher Education and Interfaith Activism. Rachael graduated from Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL where she studied Religion and Youth Ministry. She attended Princeton Theological Seminary where she received her Master of Divinity. She was featured on Interfaith Youth Core’s podcast Common Knowledge and has  written  for OnFaith, Interfaith Youth Core, Faith Line Protestants, Sojourners, and Huffington Post Religion.

    Dustin Aagaard

    Dustin Aagaard

    Dustin Aagaard is the Family Pastor at Journey  Christian  Church in Orlando, Florida. He loves helping teenagers and leaders reach their full potential. He enjoys watching and playing all sports but especially loves surfing. Dustin is married to his wife TJ and together they have 3 incredible kids: Riley, Callie Joy, and Darby!

  • Partnering with Schools
    Sam and Kelly Thigpen

    Sam and Kelly Thigpen

    Sam and Kelly Thigpen have been blessed for the last 12 years to have served in ministry together. Both have extensive experience in youth ministry and have a passion for reaching the next generation. Currently, Sam serves as the discipleship pastor at Anastasia Baptist church and Kelly works in the Community Relations department in the St. Johns County School District.

    Matt Hartley

    Matt Hartley

    Matt Hartley is the Director of Young Adult Ministries at Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, and Lay Chaplain for the Osprey Episcopalians Campus Ministry at UNF. Previously, Matt spent a decade as a high school teacher and Presbyterian youth minister. He takes inspiration from 1 Samuel 3 that our youth are meant to learn how to hear God’s voice and be leaders for the church now. Matt also takes joy in being Dad, to his 9 year old daughter and 7 year old son. They sing in the car and nerd out over Star Wars together.

Attendees are assigned to park in the Malaga Street Parking Garage located at: 1 Malaga Street (next to FEC/Abare Hall). The attendees should place the parking passes face up on their dashboards, while they are parked in the garage. The Malaga Garage gate arm should automatically rise, when approached by their vehicles.  However, Security will be available on campus should any issues arise. Should you have any problems or concerns on the day of the event,  please do not hesitate to contact Security at 819-6200 or 819-6492.
