Program Description

Students pursuing a degree in Art Education are eligible to receive state certification to teach art at all grade levels, kindergarten through 12th grade. This course of study requires students to complete an art major and to study professional education and methodology courses.

Major Requirements

The general education courses that an Art Education major must take are ENG 101, ENG 102, HIS 205 or HIS 206, PSY 101, a Social Science elective, COM 101, ART 218, one Humanities elective, MAT 136, two courses from – MAT 135, MAT 137, MAT 171, MAT 223 –, and two courses from – NAS 104, NAS 105, NAS 106.

The Education Department Courses that an Art Education major must take are EDU 202, EDU 241, EDU 321, EDU 354, EDU 355, EDU 357, EDU 461, EDU 471, EDU 481, EEL 363, ESE 309, ESL 315, and SED 363.
