Clubs and Organizations

SAM

The Society for Advancement of Management (SAM) is the oldest management society in the world.  Its mission is "to provide an opportunity for the members to increase management skills and expertise through participation in programs and services designed to improve the professional quality of their knowledge, performance, and leadership ability." The Flagler College SAM chapter is the only chapter in the history of SAM to have won eight International Management Case Competition Undergraduate Division titles. Inquiries about SAM should be directed to the club's advisor, Paula Holanchock.

SIFE

Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) is a global organization that prepares the next generation of leaders to create a better world for everyone. SIFE students form teams that serve local and international communities by developing projects that take what they are learning in their classrooms to solve real world problems. SIFE teams present the results of their projects annually at regional, national and international competitions, where business leaders select the winners based on who most impacted their communities.

Our Flagler College SIFE team is very competitive. FCSIFE won the SIFE National Championship in 2004 and represented the United States at the SIFE World Cup in Barcelona Spain, where they placed first runner up. SIFE programs focus on ethics, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, market economics and success skills. The FCSIFE students have fun, learn, change lives for the better and become lifelong friends.

For more information about SIFE, contact SIFEpresident@flagler.edu or SIFE advisors Donna DeLorenzo or Barry Sand at 904 819 6255.

Sigma Beta Delta

Flagler College has a chapter of Sigma Beta Delta, International Honor Society in Business and Accounting. Membership in this honor society is one of the highest recognitions a business student can achieve at the college. Sigma Beta Delta encourages scholarship and service, and it promotes personal and professional improvement. To be eligible for membership juniors and seniors majoring in Business or Accounting must be in the upper 10 percent of their major and invited to join by the business faculty.

Internship Opportunities

Internships are available to students who qualify and are strongly encouraged by the Department of Business Administration. Practicum work experience allows students to apply theories learned in the classroom to a business experience. The internship course, BUS 481-483, requires a paper, an evaluation by a person in the business community, and periodic meetings with the Internship Director.  Inquiries about Internships should be directed to Paula Holanchock.
