The Sport Management program at Flagler College enjoys the special
distinction of being the first undergraduate curriculum in the
state of Florida to be approved by the Sport Management Program
Review Council. Furthermore, Flagler College's Sport Management
program is one of only 35 approved undergraduate programs in the
nation.
The
Sport
Management
program
prepares
students
for
managerial
careers
in
sport.
Career
fields
include
the
following:
professional
sport
management,
event
and
facility
management/marketing,
athletic
administration,
recreational
sport
management,
resort
management,
retail
sports
industry,
sport
governance,
and
nonprofit
sport
agencies.
Flagler's
nationally-approved
program
requires
students
to
be
exposed
to:
- the
behavioral
dimensions
of
sport,
- management
and
organizational
skills
in
sport,
- ethics
in
sport

in
sport,
- economics
in

- legal
aspects
of
sport,
- governance

and

in
sport
management.
In
addition,
course
assignments
and
projects
require
students
to
apply
their
knowledge
to
real-world
scenarios.
Because success in
the sporting enterprise
depends more and more
on knowledge of finance,
marketing, economics
and sales, the Sport
Management curriculum
also requires courses
in accounting, economics
and business administration.
This interdisciplinary
approach enhances the
students' general business
knowledge base and
better prepares them
for the competitive
job market.
