Major/Minor Information

The Communication major consists of the prerequisites (6 hours), the communication core (23 hours) and one track, either broadcasting (13 hours), journalism (14 hours) or public relations (13 hours). In addition, students are required to take 12 hours of required electives or a complete major or minor in another department. Depending on the choice of electives, the major requires 48 or more hours to complete.

The order of courses may be changed as long as prerequisites are met. Additional hours in workshops or internships are strongly encouraged. Students must have permission from the Department Chair to enter any class without the prerequisites.
