Many
former
students
want
to
contribute
something
to
Flagler
College,
to
give
back
to
the
College,
and
to
assist
current
students.
Giving
back
to
the
College
assures
that
your
own
Flagler
College
degree
will
continue
to
be
worth
something
by
allowing
the
College
and
its
students
to
grow,
develop
and
prosper.
Here
is
a way
you
can
give
back
to
the
College...and
without
opening
your
wallet!!
How?
By
joining
the
Flagler
Connection
and
serving
as
a Career
Advisor
for
interested
students
and
graduates.
There
are
several
programs
to
choose
from,
and
anything
you
elect
to
contribute
will
benefit
Flagler
students
and
provide
a sense
of
accomplishment
in
yourself.
1) Resume "test-drive." Allow
students
interested
in
your
field
to
send
their
resumes
to
you
(email,
snail
mail,
or
other
agreed
upon
method)
for
a critique.
Give
suggestions
on
what
may
help
build
the
resume,
what
is
missing,
etc.
Maybe
you
don't
feel
you
have
this
sort
of
expertise;
perhaps
you
could
take
the
resume
to
your
HR
department
and
request
they
take
a look
at
it
for
you.
2) Informational
Interviewing
and/or
Job
Shadowing.
Students
deciding
on
careers
often
benefit
from
speaking
with
someone
in
the
field.
A
typical
Informational
Interview
lasts
about
30
minutes
(shorter
or
longer
times
can
be
agreed
upon),
and
the
student
comes
prepared
to
ask
you
questions
about
a
subject
you
know
well:
yourself
and
your
job!
Job
shadowing
means
letting
a
student
observe
your
work
day.
Remember
that
Flagler
students
come
from
all
over,
so
anyone
can
participate
in
this.
3) Guest
Speaker.
Come
back
to
campus
to
speak
about
your
own
experiences
in
career
and
job-hunting
after
college,
your
specific
field
of
interest,
etc.
This
can
be
part
of
the
Job
Search
Seminar
class
for
seniors,
at
a
Career
Expo
event,
or
a
Special
Engagement.
Let
the
Director
of
Career
Services
know
the
topic
you
would
like
to
discuss
and
when
a
good
time
is,
and
the
Director
will
set
it
up
and
advertise
the
opportunity
to
the
students.
4) Corporate
Advocate.
Encourage
the
organization
or
company
you
work
for
to
advertise
its
opportunities
with
Flagler
College,
support
Flagler
College,
and
attend
our
upcoming
Career
Expo.
Helpful
materials
can
be
obtained
from
the
Office
of
Career
Services
to
share
with
your
Human
Resource
Department
or
management.
5) Area
Assistance.
Help
students
who
may
or
may
not
share
your
career
interests
but
are
planning
to
move
to
your
geographical
area.
Provide
information
such
as
possible
places
to
live,
information
about
local
companies,
etc.
As
you
can
see,
you
can
select
the
level
of
participation
you
are
comfortable
with.
To
get
started,
send
an
email
to
the
Director
with
your
contact
information
including:
Name/Graduation
Year
Address
City, State (both where
you live and work,
if different)
Preferred telephone
number
Email address
Career Field
Job Title, Company
Name
Then,
state
the
ways
in
which
you
are
willing
to
participate
and
how
you
prefer
to
be
contacted
- either
first
by
the
Director
of
Career
Services
or
directly
by
the
students.
Also
indicate
if
your
preference
is
email
or
telephone.
Unless
you
state
otherwise,
this
information
will
also
be
shared
with
the
Alumni
Office
to
insure
your
information
is
up-to-date
and
so
you
will
continue
to
receive
the
Flagler
Magazine.
Do
not
hesitate
to
contact
the
Office
of
Career
Services
if
you
have
any
questions
concerning
participating
in
the
Flagler
Connection
to
help
Flagler
College
students
through
the
Office
of
Career
Services.
