Why should I choose the accounting major? Accounting was recently ranked among the 50 hottest careers in the nation by Money magazine—and with good reason, given the sheer variety of career options available in the field. Flagler accounting majors graduate to successful careers as financial analysts, appraisers, budget officers, loan officers, actuaries, underwriters, tax collectors, revenue agents, security sales representatives, and purchasing agents. They pursue qualifications as CPAs, certified management accountants, or certified internal auditors. They become successful entrepreneurs and corporate professionals. If you have a head for numbers, accounting may be a great choice—especially considering that the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects a 10 to 20 percent increase in job openings in the field by the year 2008.
